INSPECTION BY CAPT VTN HUGO. There was a. full muster of tlio members of tlio local Fi-e Brigade, in working uniform. . last right, oil tho occasion of-the inspection' of the Brigade by Captain Hugo, Govern".-" inent Inspector of Fire Brigades under the Fire BoardsThe fust item in ■’he pwgiamine for the evening was the calling out of the Brigade to an imaginary fire at the AVesleyan Church, where three hydrants wero shipped with three leads of hose, the water guago registering a pressure of 135 lbs. On the completion of this practice, strain was got up on the engino at tho shed, and the Brigade then T ieceedcd to Peel Street, where a hydrant was shipped at each cor icr of the street on tho Whataupoko side of Gladstone Road. The results of tho practice were considered to ho verv satisfactory. The members then -eturued to the Brigade Station. where Captain. Hugo was introduced by Superintendent Townley in a short speech. The Captain then proceeded to give a most interesting and instruct’vo address on what he called die 'small things” in Fire Brigade matters, and shortly touched upon such subjects as the removing of inanimate oodles from burning buildings, first aid principles, and hydraulics. At the conclusion of the address, which was listened to most attentively, a hearty vote of thanks t 0 Captain Hugo was proposed by Superintendent Townley, seconded by SeniorForeman G. Wildish, and carried with acclamation.
