AVELLINGTON, August 13. The annual meeting of the AA rollington Meat Export Company was held to-day. The chairman (Mr. AAh G. Foster) stated that during the year the equivalent of 545,899 sheep were handled, an increase of 15,203 on the previous year. Of the 545,899 sheep put through, 127,000 had been frozen by owners who, in so doing, had in most cases tho specific desire of supporting the company which, originally purely .a fanners’ company, still had a- wide and influential connection ill the country. Tho increase in wages during the past eighteen months could scarcely be placed at less than 7f per cent, and on this basis the extra amount' paid bv the company to the workers during the twelve months ending June 30tli would exceed £3500. Notwithstanding tin's, owing to improved appliances and extensions, no increase had been made in the freezing and other charges, which ■would have been severely felt. The capital expenditure for the year was £13,860, of which £8490 was for plant and its erection, and £5735 for new premises. The. company was now to be congratulated upon having the best fellmongery in the Australasian colonies. The retiring directors, Messrs J. AA T . Marshall and W. H. Boetliam, wore elected without opposition. The remuneration was fixed at £BOO, the same as in previous years.
