AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. [Press Association.] AVANGANUI, August 14. Thoroughgood, the champion sculler of Australia, writes to “Victor,” of the Wanganui Herald, asking him to let Whelcli know about his challenge. Thoroughgood desires a reply at once, as he has received a challenge from Pearce, but if Whelcli will row, the Australian champion will give him the first raco. The race is to be for £2OO aside, and Thoroughgood . will allow Whelcli £SO for expenses if lie loses. It would be for the championslii" of Australia, and would have to be rowed thoro.
