MURDER ON BATTLESHIP.
A FIREMAN KILLED. A NEGROES’ QUARREL. ‘ [Pbess Association.] AUCKLAND, August 16. It has transpired- that- a murder was committed aboard one of the American battleships during the stay in Auckland. Two negro firemen quarrelled, and one slushed the other across the stomach with -a razor so severely that death ensued.- It was rumored that tlie murderer was to be hanged when the vessels had got outside the three-mile limit, but it is believed now, as the result of inquiries, that lie will be taken back to America in irons and there tried.
