The usual weekly mooting of tho Management Committee of tho P.B. Rugby Union was hold on Monthly evening in the Masonic Hotel. Present: Messrs. H. E. Maude (chairman), W. Johnston, H. Pullott, J. S. Waudhop, C!. Morse, W. R. Brady, and E. L. Maude (lion. soc.). An apology for non-attendance wus received from Mr. M. Bright. Tho minutes of tho last meeting wore road and confirmed. The secretary of tho Taranaki 'Union wrote regarding subscriptions to tho Alf. Bayloy Memorial Fund. —Received.
Accident Insurance was grautwl to a player injured in tho Kaiti-City— West End junior match on July 25.' A wire was recoived from the secretary of tho Hawke’s Bay Union asking if September stlh would suit for representative match. —Failing rocoipt of reply on Wednesday morning tho secretary was instructed to wire asking if dato was finally fixed as September sth . Tlfe secretary of tho New Zealand Rugby Union wrote enclosing copy of a farewell message from Mr. George Harnett, manager of the AngloAVelsh team. —Received.
Notice of the confirmed disqualification of several players ti-ii other centres was received from tho secretary of tho Now Zealand Rugby Union, who also asked that any instances of professionalism amongst player or officials in this district bo at onco reported to the governing body. The secretary of tho Poverty Bay Hockey Association wrote applying for tho use of the Domain on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons for Ladies clubs in their matches against the visiting Wapiti ladies’ club.—lt was decided that the request be granted ,and it was also resolved that the takings fin the Nelson match bo granted to the Hockey Association without the usual deduction.
Tho uso. of No. 2 ground for Saturday was granted to F. Hull and Son’s team to play Wade and Gray’s and also to tho Town Cudots for a match with tho Old Boys. A number of players were passed for the Gisborne Club. It was resolved that £‘3 be granted towards the expenses of tho Toko--111 aru team.
The questing of sending a representative team up the Coast was discussed, and it was finally decided that it was impossible to send a s team this season.
It was decided that the selectors pick A and B teams to play a match 011 tho Domain next iSaturday, in view of the approaching representative match with Hawke’s Bay. It. was also resolved that the Te Karaka Club be requested to supply a team of forwards for a representative practice game on the following Saturday, the local Union to supply tho hacks. Some small improvements on the ground were authorised, and tho meeting concluded.
THE NORTHERN UNION GAME AN AUCKLAND TEAM. [Press Association.]
AUCKLAND, August 18,
The following team has been selected to represent Auckland in the football match against Wellington next Saturday under the Northern Union rules:—-Full-back, Dufty ; three-quar-ters, Rowe, W. Wynyarcl, and Redwood ; five-eighths, W. Tyler and S. Riley; half-back, R. Wynynrd; forwards, Mackrell, Dunning, Trevartlien, McDonald, Gladding, and Hooper. Of the thirteen players chosen seven toured the North of England, and one (S. Riley) went across and met the team in Australia, nlgying several games there. McDonald, Hooper, and Dufty are Auckland amateur ' representatives, while Redwood and Glachling' aro senior players. The team is in active training. KAITI-CITY THIRDS. DEFEATED AT NAPIER. [Special to “Times.”] NAPIER, August 17.
The Kaiti.-City team was this afternoon defeated at Napier by tho Pirates by 13 points to 9 points. In the.first spell the Pirates had the game all tlieir own way, Robinson scoring and kicking a fine goal. 111 the second spell Kaiti-City woke up and from a fine dribbling rush Bristow scored, Fitzgerald failing to convert. From the scrum Robinson broke away and after a find run, scored between tho posts. Ho converted the try himself. Fitzgerald, for the visitors then kicked a penalty goal, and Huston scored an unconverted try, and the game ended in Pirates’ favor by a four-point margin. For the winners Israel played a splendid game, wliilo Fitzgerald, Cramp, Bristow, and Pollock were the pick of the visitors.

NAPIER. August 18
Kaiti-City thirds were to-day defeated by Napier thirds by 3 to nil. In tiie first spell the forwards on both sides played a great game. From a high kick Gardiner, following up fast, beat the City backs, and scored a splendid try, which, was not converted. From this on Kaiti-City put up a great fight, but the Napier backs were too good for them. No further score was recorded, and the whistle sounded with Napier pressing hard. For the winners Gardiner, Stairmand, Holder, and Emmerson played excellently, and Fitzgerald, O,’Neill, Cramp, and Huston were the pick of the losers. Air. Alereditli refereed.
THE MAORI TEAM. FURTHER TROUBLE. United Press Association, Copyright SYDNEY, August 18. The Uugbv League lias decided mot t 0 sanction its players participating in another' benefit for the Maori team to-morrow. The reason given for the refusal is that after the Maoris stating they were prepared to depart for New Zealand on W ednesd ly last, they entered into negotiations to play a match in Melbourne and give liakas during the visit of the fleet. The Maoris’ management claims that everything was doiie above board. They were justified in trying to raise funds after -the failure of°the last benefit match.'
THE AUSTRALIAN GAME. CONFERENCE IN MELBOURNE

MELBOURNE, August 18. The Liter-State conference of representatives of football organisations discussed tlie question of establishing a universal Australian game. In reply t 0 a question, one delegate declared that there was no prospect whatever of Rugby giving way as regards off-side. Another replied, “That settles it.” Air. AlcKeon, of New Zealand, thought a game could be evolved which would he the Australian game perfected. The Northern Union game, as played by the All Blacks, had come to stay in New Zealand. No decision was reached.
