It is not long since the barque Loch Lomond, one of the ,well-known Loch line, was sold whilst lying at Melbourne to the Union Steamship Co. of New Zealand, and she. is at present on her way from Newcastle to Lyttelton with a cargo of coql. The “Argus” states that another old stager of the Loch fleet, the Loch Ness, has' also changed hands in Melbourne, subject to inspection,; the price paid being £3OOO, equal-to that given for the Loch Lomond. The Loch Ness, which arrived in Melbourne recently from Glasgow with general cargo, has been bought by the German-AustraJian Steamship Co., and will, it is understood, be used as a coal hulk in Adelaide. The Loch Lomond is likewise threatened with a similar fate, unless she should be chosen by the Union Steamship Co. as a training ship, in preference to the Dartfordj which the company also purchased.
