The U.iS.S. Co.'s Taluno is due from South to-morrow morning, and to sail later for Auckland. The U.S.S. Co.’s Monowai returns from Auckland on Sunday afternoon and continues her voyage South during the evening. The U.S.S. Co.'s Squ ill is duo to leave Auckland to-morrow afternoon for Tologa Bay and Gisborne. The U.S.S. Co.’s Haupiri is at present working Coast ports on her way to this port and Napier. Messrs Richardson and Co.’s Fanny is timed to. leave Napier on Monday evening for Gisborne. The U.S.S. Co.’s flora left Newcastle yesterday for Napier, and will deviate from her usual course in search of the missing s.s. Hawe.i. The ketch Coronation is expected at any time from Auckland, and the three-masted scow Zingara from Ngungimi, timber laden. It is understood that the Shaw, Suvill and Albion Company’s now passenger steamer Tainui, now building at Belfast, will be commanded .),y Captain T. Moffatt, who is at present in charge of the Mainaii. The Tainui i s expected to leave London on lier maiden voyage to New Zealand on November 12th, and is due at AVellington on December 29th. Thenceforward she will replace the Mamr.'i in the mail service. With the advent of tile Tainui, the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company will have a complete fleet of large-size mail and passenger steamers of a very high cites, viz., Athenic, Corintliic, lonic, Tainui, and Arawa. The Tainui will ba a much liner vessel than the Arawa, and will be a splendid steamer, fitted with every modern convenience and comfort for passengers. ' The barque Onyx has been practically dismantled and shorn of her glory at Sydney by having all her topmasts, spars, running gear, etc., stripped off, only her lower mists being left. As a" natural result she now cuts a sorry figure by comparison with bygone days, and is now almost readv to go on the retired list in the humble,,but eminently useful, capacity of a coal hulk; and will, it is understood. find a resting place at Lyttelton shortly.
