CLAIMIAGAINST POLICE SERGEANT.
AN EJECTION FROM FOOTBALL GROUND. DAMAGES AWARDED. [Pbesi Association.] MASTERTON, August 30. At tlie District Court on Saturday. Jas. Joseph Kennedy claimed from Nathaniel Miller, sergeant of police at Masterton, tlic sum of £2OO damages for ejecting him from the ground on the occasion of tlie Anglo-Welsh - Wairarapa football match at Masterton. Plaintiff stated lie paid to go in the grandstand, took a seat on which no notice of reservation was affixed, and was forcibly removed by defendant. After retiring for tw 0 hours and thirtyfive minutes, tlie jury found, (1)~ That plaintiff was not in such a state of drunkenness as would justify his removal; (2) that- seats were reserved in ii reasonable way, and with reasonable notice to plaintiff; (3) that defendant used unnecessary force i_u removing plaintiff. They found for plaintiff, with £5 damages.
