A SHOOTING CASE.

MILLER BEFORE THE COURT.

[Press Association.] MASTERTON, Sept. 9. Tobias Millor stood in the dock at the Mastorton Police Court to-day, charged with shooting at Ernest Might with intent to kill. The Bench was occupied by Messrs Eli Smith and John Cross, J-P.’s. Accused, who looked very pale and careworn, was unrepresented by counsel. He did not exhibit any very great interest in the proceedings, which lasted a few minutes only. The body of tho court was densely crowded. Sorgt. Miller, after the charge had been .read by the Clerk of the Court, stated that the victim of the affray was confined to bis bed, and asked that the prisoner bo remanded for a week. The application was granted. The question of granting bail was not raised. The accused was taken to Wellington- by the afternoon train, where lie will be kept in custody until lie appears again next Wednesday. There is no apparent change in. the condition of flight to-day. lie was in good spirits, and appeared to be little the worse for liis wound, eating with customary heartiness. He is a man of powerful physique and is exhibiting little sign of being the victim of a shooting affray. Tiio wound gave him no pain to-day, -and liis medical attendant (Dr. V. Ross) did not make a further examination with the object of endeavoring to locate the bullet, flight is, of course, being kept in bed, and is at his -lodgings. It is not improbable that ho will be placed under X-rays treatment at the hands of Air. W. H. IJosking.
