The Gisborne Times PUBLISHED EVERY MORNING. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 1908 GISBORNE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
Wliat lias become of the recontlyPornied Chamber of Commerce from which so much was hoped? It was brought into existence some months ago and 'the preliminaries for tho inauguration of a useful career were gono through but latterly nothing hi:is been hard of .its doings or of its intentions. The other day a meeting of settlers at Rukauroa decided to write to tho Chamber inviting it s cooperation in aw endeavor to secure better mail facilites between Gisborne and the Motu and Raknuroa districts. This is a subject that should be taken ill hand immediately as bliero is no valid reason why the mails should not lie taken through the districts mentioned in one day, particularly now that the railway section has been carried on an additional stage. It is t-o bo hoped tho Chamber will shortly meet to consider this and the numerous other matters that are calling for urgent attention.
