MONDAY, SEPT. 14th. (Before Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M.)

Walter Harris, charged with drunkenness, pleaded guilty, and as it was the accused’s second offence within six months ho was fined PI and costs 2s, in default four days’ imprisonment. A prohibition ordor was issued against a young man; the order being made on the application of his mother. Daniel O’Connell was ordered to pay 6s per week towards tho maintenance of liis illegitimate child, to pay costs £!) 7s, and to (iml PIOO surety for the fulfilment of the order. DISOBEDIENCE OF AN ORDER. Charles Single, arrested on warrant, was charged with failing to comply with an order to support his wife and children. Mr T. Alston Coleman, who appeared for the accused, stated that defendant had only come hack from prison in June, ami had found work hard to obtain, only being able to get £3. His Worship said that it was liquor that wns the trouble, and if he would only leave it alone lie should bo able to got. work; there was £7l in arrears, defendant only having paid Pi since the order was made. Air. Coleman said that defendant decided to have a prohibition order taken out, and ho then thought he would he able to get work. His Worship said considering the circumstances lie would not sentence defendant this time, but would grant a prohibition order for 12 months, and adjourned the case until Wednesday, November 18th, and if within that time accused did not comply with the order, he would send him to prison.
