THE MISSING METEOR.

NO TIDINGS RECEIVED. No news was received yesterday of the missing fishing smack Aleteor, and it is feared there is 110 hope of rescuing the two men Olsen and AA’altinen, who were aboard. The Rev. AV. Grant despatched the telegram proposed to be sent at the no-license meeting on Tuesday evening, asking the Government- to send a steamer to eearcli- for the missing vessel to the Hon. J. Carroll, and yesterday received the following reply:—“Re your wire, have seen the Premier, who, on behalf of the Government, desires to say that everything nil! be done to assist- in the search for the missing fishermen. Did meeting suggest any course to be taken; if so, please wire. Hopo men will be found safe and well.—-J. Carroll.” Tile Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister for Alarine, also telegraphed on Tuesday night: “If suitable boat in Gisborne advise me, and I will make arrangements for chartering foil search of missing men. Reply urgent.—J. A. Millar.” Yesterday' morning the Rev. AV. Grant telegraphed t 0 the lion. Air. Alillar stating that the Tuatea would be available to-day. Air. Howie, Collector of Customs at Gisborne, has been in connminication with the Alarine Department since Saturday in connection with the missing boat’, and lias also communicated with several coast ports and Napier, asking that a Jook-out be kept. So far the Alarine Department has not given any instructions as to instituting a search,.
