WOOLLEN INDUSTRY DECLINING. Onitbd Press Association. Copyright MONTREAL, Sept. 16. Air. Holland, in his Presidential address to the Canadian Manufacturers Association’s convention at Alon-tieal, said that under the preferential tanii the woollen industry had steadily declined in value. The woollen -manufactures imported for the year end" ing April, 1897, was £1,400,000. ihe value for tlie year ending April last was £4,200,000. There had been since 1900 a decrease of capital m Canadian wool production of £'2o,000; in the hands employed of 2Zv O, and. in tho annual value of products £320,000. He appealed to Canadians to insist on an increase of woollen duties to prevent- extinction of the industry. ______
