ENTERTAINMENTS.

CITY BAND CONCERT. There was a large audience in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening, when a children’s variety entertainment was given in aid of tho funds of the Gisborne City Band The entertainment was very similar-to that given in the theatre on previous occasions, many of the items being repeated. Alaster Lon. Skeet appeared in new songs, including “Air. Morgan., J-P.”, •and “Air. Kelly,” earning an encore for each item. Master Sheet has a good voice and good style, and fully deserved the applause * he received. Aliss Okey Kiwi again appeared in her cake-walk dance, which was easily the best item of tlie programme, her style and ease of movement being very graceful, and she was accorded an encore. The AI rises McKay, Parker, Church, and Miller sang “Four Jolly Sailormeii,” ‘introducing local hits; the Alisses Pearce (3), McConnell (2), and Nicolas gave a song and dance, “The Honeysuckle and the Bee”; Miss L. Pearce danced a skipping-rope dance, and! little Vera AVootton and •the company sang “Dreamy Eyes” with tableau effects. Tho second part of the programme was presented as a street scene, in which songs were given by Alisses Al. Church, AI. Lawless, and Nicolas. Features of tlie evening were the “Tin Can” Band, an Irish Jig by Alisses Parker and Lowndes, and a chorus and series of songs entitled “Coon Land.” Master Hiki AlarteU, who has a fair voice and a good stage appearance, sang “Walking Home with Angeline. Aliss Edna Hayes, whose name appeared several times on tho programme, contributed a dance to music composed by Alaster Knni Kerekere, but was not too successful. Her dancing was much, too quick for the music, and she seemed on the- point of breaking down from exhaustion when the music stopped. The. same young lady also sang “Only a Penny, Sir,” ‘‘Wait Till the Honeymoon is Over,” and “AVill you Come out To-night.” The- City Band also contributed two selections. During the interval Air. John Townley thanked the audience for tlieir attendance, and complimented Alaster Kerekere oil his musical composition.
