The liont in New York, in July, continued tremendous, anil numerous eases of prostration were trialed in all the hospitals. On one day the thermometer registered 9J.7 deg., and • there were eight deaths directly attributed to the efl'eets of the weather. Philadelphia, however, holds the record. 97.1 deg. ol heat lining recorded about midday, it is stated that this is the hottest summer ever experienced.
