A NELSON EJECTION.

CHARGE AGAINST FOOTBALL REFEREE. THE CASE DISMISSED. [Press Association.] NELSON, Sept. 21. A case of interest to footballers was beard at Takaka to-day by Air. H. Eyre Kenny, S.AI., a referee being charged with assault. Complainant was « spectator of the match, and in his enthusiasm encroached upon the field of play. He remarked upon a railin' given' by the referee, who thereupon put him off the ground. Defendant said lie understood a referee had sole charge of the ground on the occasion of a match, and that he was acting within bis rights. The Magistrate said he had no cases before him to show what legal authority a, referee possessed, but he held that defendant acted bona lido in the belief that lie had authority to eject complainant from the enclosure. The charge was dismissed, with costs, £3 9s, against complainant. .
