An instance of unscrupulous fleecing ot' a country visitor to tho city was revealed at the Auckland Police Court on Friday, when a one armed man, was charged with plying as express witli out a license. A lady visitor arrived at. a Quay-street jetty by a Northern Steamship Company’s boat, and was charged J2s (id by Murrich for taking her luggage from the jetty to the railway station. Air. Dyer, S.M scathingly commented on the accused's action, and fined him .LM and costs. An application was made to have the money refunded to the lady, hut Mr Dyer said he had not power to order this.
