SALE OF PICTURES.
The sale of piclures, the work oI the well-known artist, Mr. K. W • Christinas, at Messrs Miller and Cram's miction rooms yesterday, was lairl.v well attended, and was most successful, good prices being realised. Throughout- the auctioneers, on, behalf of Mr. Christmas, sold a large number of the gems of the collection privately, a number of art lovers preferring'to buy in that way rather than outer into competition. Mr. Christmas leaves tor tlie South on Sunday, hut the pictures that are leit mid a' few that he lias brought forward from his n Indio will lie on view to-da.v, and lovers of works of art will he able to treat for them privately. Mr. Christmas, who has exhibited with the best art societies in. England, the Continent, and Australia, paints a picture of which any purchaser might he proud, and his name on a canvas alone adds materially to its value. "While 'in Gisborne lie is prepared to accept a moderate price, for his works, and those on the look out for pictures should not miss the opportunity.
