NEW YORK, Sept. 25. The Standard Oil Trust states that the letters which Air. Hears! published, together with many others, were stolen.
Air. Haskell gives President Roosevelt the lie direct. The President warns Air. Bryan •that the measures he is advocating will be wholly ineffective for curing a single evil now existing, and will merely throw business into hopeless confusion. The Democrats profess tremendous indignation with President Roosevelt’s persistent interference) with the election. His successor, Air. Taft, they say, is only • Roosevelt’s “tame cat,” or “his man Friday.” The New York “Evening Post” complains of President Roosevelt's undignified attitude in plunging into an ignoblo election row.
