ACCUSATIONS AGAINST THE
PRESIDENT

NEW YORK, Sept . 20, Mr Hearst lias published additional letters showing tint eminent Republican and Democratic politicians have tendered their legislative services to financial corporations upon a basis of financial support. The disclosures have evoked frantic expressions of publis disgust. Mr. Foraker declared that Mr. Taft has consorted with the Standard Oil .magnates and that President Roosevelt’s conduct, since the charges were made, indicates a guilty conscience.
The Democrats accuse Mr Cornelius Bliss, treasurer of Iho Republican National Party, on behalf of Mr. Cortelyou. chairman of the Republican National Committee, of levying tv contribution of £20,000 sterling upon Messrs Rogers and Archbold, representing; the Standard Oil Trust, on the understanding that the administration would act less harshly towards the corporation. The Democrats admit that President Roosevelt directed the committee to return the money, but the money had been spent. Nevertheless, a little Inter the Standard Oil Trust mas requested to furnish £50,000, but Mr. Rogers declined, intimating that they had never received hack the £20,000. Ho accused President Roosevelt of knowing that the sum was not. only accepted but used.
