The following is the statement of all fees, fines, and penalties-payable to local bodies: —Cook County Council : Breach of wheel tyres by-law, 7 cases, amount £l2. Borough Council: Permitting nuisance, 1 case, £1; leading horse on footpath, 1 case, 10s; driving quickly round corners, 2 cases, £1 10s; cycling on footpath, 2 cases, £1 ss; fee on pawnbrokers’ license, 1 case, £lO. On the whole, the criminal, list, although there is an increase in some offences, shows a slight decrease in crime compared with last quarter. Included in the above number of convictions (215) there were 99 for drunkenness, as compared with 105 for last quarter, and 118 for the first quarter in this year. There was also a decrease in thefts, the number this quarter being 9, as against 19 the • previous three months. For breaking and entering, this term there were 7 cases, whereas -last quarter there were none. Three convictions were recorded for disorderly behavior while drunk, as against 5 hast quarter. Duriaag tlie quarter 29 prohibition orders were granted, including 16 upon the persons’ own applicatkm. The remainder of tlie number of convictions included those for offences such as resisting the police , obscene language, threatening and abusive -language, procuring liquor, attempted suicide, etc.
