AUCKLAND, Oct. 13. At the Anglican Synod to-night, a resolution, moved by tho Rev. U. Mason, was curried, deploring the increase of fieilities for divorce afforded in recent years by the Houses of Legislature of this Dominion, stigmatising the s’liue as a blot iipon our Chri tianity, and a direct incentive to immorality, and appealing t 0 alt Christian people, by every means within their power, to spare no effort to rouge a healthy public opinion upon this matter. The mover held that tlie divorce luw had aimed, a heavy blow ai the sanctity of t-lio marriage tie. He also commented strongly on the provisions in the Marriage Act for marriage with deceased wife’s sister, etc., characterising them as directly opposed to the law of affinity as hi id down in the Prayer Book.
