DRUNKENNESS
A first offender was convicted and fined 5s ,witli 2s costs, or in default 24 hours- gaol. Thomias Hall, for a second conviction within three months, was fined 10s and 2s cents, or 48 hours’ imprisonment. DISORDERLY CONDUCT.
Oh as. Johnston arid Harold Kirk were charged with, on October 2nd, having been .guilty of disorderly ct 11duct while drunk, on the ana in road at Te Arai.
Ser.gt. Hutton detailed the circumstances, explaining that (the defendants had been to a concert mid party on the night tho offence and, when coming home in the early hours of the morning, had broken windows, and done other damage to houses along the road. The defendants had since paid for tlie 'am age done, _ and had apologised for their behaviour.
Both of the defendants having pleaded guilty. His Worship said that he must mark his disapproval of such disorderly conduct, especially in an out-of-the-way place where there was no police protection. Johnston would bo fined £1 and 7s costs, and Kirk u similar amount, with i4s costs; in default of immediate payment four davs’ imprisonment. ‘ PROHIBITION ORDERS.
Two prohibition orders were issued, one at- the request of a first offending drunkard, and the other after evidence lia dbcen taken .proving that defendant by the excessive use of intoxicating liquors did nijure his health.
