GLEANERS’ UNION.
MEETING AT TE RAU COLLEGE
_ A large meeting of the Gleaner’s Union was held at To Ran College last evening. Short addresses were given on each of the letters of the word Gleaners. Mr. T. -Baker on the New Guinea mission. Miss Oakley on the Leper mission in India. Mrs Chatterton on Effort. Energy, and. Enthusiasm,' -Mrs. Akroyd on Africa, Rev. F. ~W. Chatter toil on “Nothing,” Rev. R. T.- Ivohere on the Empire’s duty to the 351,600.000 colored people, many of whom are heathen, within its borders, Miss S trouts on Religion, and Miss Chatterton • on Students in China. Each of the addresses dealt with some phase -of missionary work in the world. At tho conclusion of the addresses, Mr. Do Liu tour thanked the speakers for tho pleasant- and instructive evening they had had, and he reminded the young members of. the Union that it had traditions. From the small Union several of its members had gone out to •’.ill parts of tho world, Mr. Hawt-rey to South Africa, Mr. Malcolm to China, Miss Giffard and Mr. ißyburn India, and Mr. Hawkins to tho Auckland diocese. Mr. DeLautour wished that records of their representatives in the mission field could bo maintained, so as to keep their names over fresh in local memories. Thanks were also due to Miss Walker, tho secretary, for working up the meeting.
