POVERTY BAY. RECORD ENTRIES. The entries for t-lie Poverty Ray A. and P. Association’s annual show this year exceed those of last year by thirty, the total being 1436 as against 1406' last year, but this total does not include the entries for the trotting and sporting events. The following additional awards were made at the spring show of the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society at Hastings yesterday : Competitions.—Pony under Unhands, driven by lady.—Miss Dorothy McNiven’s Pitch 1, Miss Penrose’s Bancroft Tommy 2, Mr. -Douglas Williams’ gelding 3, Mr. C. Stubbs’ Stake v.h.c. T litre were eleven entries. . Pony under 134 hands, driven by •lady.—-Miss Allison Wenley’s Midge 1, Miss J. White’s Nigger 2, Miss •Wellwood’s Pipi 3. There were six entries. Ladies’ Jumping.—Miss C. M. Burke’s Gold Shower and H. Ashall’s Frolic (equal) 1, Miss Mason’s Rajah 3, There were 23 entries. Ladies’ Driving Competition.—Tu Tiakitai’s The Monkey 1, Miss Couper’s Dolly Varden 2. There were 13 entries. Hunters’ Jumping.—E. Short’s Blue Ribbon 1, F. A. Piper’s Haerekimoa 2, W. C. A." Mackenzie’s Wlieraroa 3. There were 25 entries. There was fine weather to-day for People’s Day. The attendance greatly exceeded that of previousyears. The ■Hons. It. McNab and J. Carroll arrived yesterday. Mr. McNab this morning, accompanied by Mr. Clifton and other officers of the Department, visited the Arataki experimental farm. The Ministers were entertained at luncheon at midday on the show grounds by the A. and P, Society. McNab returns to-morrow to' Canmton, where be will discuss dairy regulations with dairymen. The following are additional championship. awards: Thoroughbred.sire, T. if. Lowry’s Fusilier; back, Oswald 1 NeGou's Montana; 'Shorthorn Cow, Douglas McLean’s Rose. s The silver trophy for most points in tSiiv'-n W van dot tea was won for the year by John Currie, of Wellington. The competitions to-day resulted as follows : Machine sheep-shearing, points for number, quality, style, and handling sheep : Pat Hokianga 1, H. Hawkins 2, Peeti 3, Tiff anga 4. There were fifty-nine entries. Machine sheep-shearing, straight-font go for speed only, three sheep : A. Hamer (omin 55sec) 1, J. Turanga 2, Peeti .3 There were fifty-eight entries. Leaping match for ponies: J. A. Blair’s Wee Macgregor 1, Miss MacKersey’s Nobby 2, Miss Grace Tlist’s Tim 3. There'were fourteen entries. Turning CompetitionG. C. Grihhin 1, W. A., Alexander 2, ; W. C. A. Mackenzie 3: There were sixteen entries.
