SWIMMING.
TO-DAY’S CARNIVAL.
The opening-day carnival of the Gisborne Swimming Club will be held in the School- Bath this afternoon, commencing at 2.15. A gratifying number of entries have been received, and all of the six events should see keen competition. Admission will he free, and the officials of the Club hope to see a satisfactory attendance of Itlie public. iCompeti-* tors are reminded that they must appear in regulation costume, otherwise they will he liable to disqualification. The Club nas decided that, owing to appliances not being available for the Obstacle-. Race, that event will ’nottake place, and diving for objects will be substituted. The Committee is- _ sues a special invitation to ladies, of whom they hope to see a good muster present. Prior to the commencement of the races, short addresses will be delivered by Messrs C. A. DeLuutour (president of the club), Hon. Captain Tucker, and other prominent gentlemen, and the bath will- be formally opened by the Mayor (Mr. W. D. Lysnar). The following are the entries:
