PERSONAL.

Captiin Cumniing. who has been South on a vacation, returned on Saturday. He was in attendance at the Baptist Conference at Nelson, and afterwards, under instructions from the Gisborne Harbor Board, visited Westport, inspecting the dredges there. He will present a report on tlie subject to the Harbor Board to-morrow.

Mrs. E. B. Buckeridge lias been chosen as the vocalist for the Hastings Orchestral Society’s concert next Wednesday. It is understood that Mrs. Buckeridge is likely to give a recital in Gisborne at an early date.

Mr. P. A. Eadie, of the “New Zealand Farmer” staff, was a passenger to Gisborne from South on (Saturday.

It is anticipated that the Native Minister {the Hon. J. Carroll) will arrive in Gisborne next Wednesday.

Mr. C. A. Fenwick, who was judge of crossbreds, fat sheep, and farmers’ stock at tlie Hawke’s Bay show, returned from Napier on Saturday.

Mr. Geoffrey Nye, business manager of West’s Pictures Co., was among the passengers to Gisborne on Saturday.

The Hon. T. Thompson, who has been spending ia few days in Gisborne, left for Auckland' on Saturday morning. Mr. E. Harrison, representing McDougall’s sheep dip, arrived by the s.s. Tarawera oil Saturday.

Mr. A. T. Ngata, M.P., who was., passing through on the s.s. Tarawera, spent a few hours in Gisborne on Saturday. Tlie Tarawera will stop at Te Ar.aroa to land Mr. Ngata, who will have a brief vacation at his home. Constable Hampton, of Napier, is at present on special duty in Gisborne in connection with' Carnival Week.
