A twenty-five-years agreement has been concluded between the French Government and the Messageries Maritimes Steamship Company regarding subsidies, including the Australian line. The State saves £40,000 -a year. The State guarantees the company’s new debenture issue, which is designed to renew the fleet. The State reserves the right- to to partcipate in profits on subsidies to the line.
