UNITEID v. TE RAU

These teams met on Saturday at the Victoria Domain in the first round of the championship matches. Te Rau batted first and made an extremely bad- start against the bowling of Reynolds and Manning, five wickets being down for 10 runs. At this stage a -heavy sliower drove the players to the pavilion, and up recommencing the ball was very greasy and neither bowlers nor fieldsmen were able to hold. The remaining five batsmen added 57 runs, and the innings closed for 66. Upon United going in to bat another bad commencement resulted, and when play was finally stopped on account of rain they had lost four wickets for 21 runs. Reynolds played a nice innings for his contribution of 13 not out. The following are scores :
