Co.’s Tarawera left for South early yesterday morning. The U.S.S. Co.’s Wanaka arrived from South yesterday morning with 300 tons of cargo for this port. She completes her discharge to-day, and cails for Auckland. The Shaw, Savill Co.’s Athemc arrived from Auckland yesterday to load frozen meat, wool, etc. She was expected to sail South early this morning. The s.s. Ripple came alongside the wharf yesterday morning, and commenced discharging. She was, drawing lift 3in coming in, Captain Allcop having lessened, her draught somewhat by making rafts out of his deck cargo of 20,000 ft of timber, and towing them up the river by means of his own oil launch. The Ripple brought 156,000 ft of timber for various owners. . . The U.S.S. Co.’s liaupiri, winch left Auckland on Wednesday evening for Coast ports, Gisborne, and “Wellington, will on .arrival at the latter port be replaced bv tlie Flora. The U.S.S. Co.’s Squall left Auckland- to-day for Tologa and Gisborne •with a general cargo. The Huddart-Par'ker Co.’.s Westralia arrives from South early on Saturday morning, and leaves later for Auckland and Sydney. The U.S.S. Co.’s Talune arrives from Auckland on Sunday afternoon, and continues her journey South during the evening. Captain Gibb transfers from the Marama to the Makura, Captain AVorrall from the Moeraki to the Marama, Captain" Stott taking the Moeraki on her arrival in Wellington.
The first dozen cadets selected for the trainin'' ship Dartford comprise three from Dunedin and suburbs, one from Southland, three from Canterbury, one from Wellington, three from Auckland, and one from Victoria. After the .alterations to the Dartford iare completed at the Wellington patent slip, she sails for Kaipara to load timber for Melbourne. BY TELEGRAPH. NEWCASTLE. Oct, 29. Sailed—Squall (3.30 p.m.) for Gisborne via Tologa Bay; Otterburn (5.40 p.m.) for Sydney. NAPIER, Oct. 29. Arrived—Tarawera (10.15 a.m.) from Gisborne.
