And at the Sclioolhouse, lvaiti, on TUESDAY, the 10th Ins., at 7.30 p.m GISBORNE RIDING. TO THE ELECTORS. Ladies and gentlemen,— At the request of a number of Ratepayers, I offer my services to you as your liepr. & o lativo m the Comity Council. Oil account of the enormous increase in rates, which has in some cases trebled during the last two or three years, the present Council having raised tho rate from tlireefarthings to virtually three halfpence, and the valuation of property having been increased within tho last three years from 20 and in some cases up tx> 75 per cent, the rate has gone up to what I consider a small rent. And I do not think it necessary to raise such a largo rate to keep the roads and drains in this riding in sufficient repair, as I think with judicious and careful expenditure the rates could be considerably reduced. 1 must say if returned I will try to do justice to all parts of the riding. Yours sincerely, C. J. PARKER. COOK COUNTY COUNCIL. TENDERS, addressed to the Chairman, will be received until noon, SATURDAY, November 14th, for— t .......
