The Hon.J. G. Jenkins, late AgentGeneral for. Smith Australia, was entertained at a complimentary- dinner. The Hon. W. P. Reeves and other Agents-General were present. Lord Jersey, presiding, presented Mi:. Jenkins with jewellery, subscribed by Ins friends.' In replying, Mr. Jenkins advocated a strong Commonwealth immigration policy. The greatest protection, he said, would be to fill the country with British people:
