LONDON, Nov. 16
Dr. Lang, Bishop of . Stepney., has been appointed Archbishop of York. Air. Asquith expressed to the Bishop of Hereford regret that his advanced age prevented the Government recommending him for the archbishopric.
The “Times” says that Air Asquith’s nomination of Bishop Lang has thrown precedent to the winds. Plenty of people will insist that the appoint-more is more courageous than precedent warranted, but admitting the risk the “Times” expect time wiil prove them wrong. At any rate, it is certain that the wealth of Pan-An-glican sympathies will attend- Bishop Lang’s promotion.
