DUNEDIN, Nov. 16

At the Presbyterian Assembly on Saturday, the committee on finance recommended that an assessment at o per cent, be made upon income of funds except the sustentation fund of Otago, and that assessments on the congregations be as follows: Auckland Presbytery £lOl os, .Hawke's Bay £l2 10s, Taranaki £lO 10s, Wanganui £4O 10s, Wellington £6O Nelson £ls 15s, _ Westland £l6 15s, Christchurch £97, Timaru £43 15s, Oamaru £39, -Dunedin £l5O 15s. Clutha £52 10s, Dunstan £l3 15s, Matauri £35. Southland £92 15s: total, £309 las. A report was received _ from is.v general and financial statistics committee, which showed that the number attending places of-public worship this year was <1.251, as against 70,124 last year. The returns showed that 125,659 persons were under pastoral care. The membership of the church was not holding its own •with the natural increase of population. The congregational revenue amounted to £113,138 12s ldd. a slight decrease front last year. The church building debt' amounted nine northern' presbyteries to £ 16,8< t ,md in six southern'presbyteries to £ 18,675, an increase in the north of £IOOB, and in the south of £3541. The report was adopted.. DELICIOUS EDUCATION. The Presbyterian Assembly adopted (lie. reports o.f the Sabbath Observance and Bible in Schools Committees.
