Tlie High Commissioner’s cable under .date London, November 14th, states: — The mutton market is quiet but firm. It is affected by the expectations of light arrivals from New Zealand. There is no change in prices to report. ,-*« The lamb market is dull, and lias been unfavorably affected by large supplies of Scotch and- Dutch coming forward. Prices have slightly declined for all grades. The beef market- is quiet, wild there is a large supply. Hindquarters are quoted at 3fd, forequarters 3&d. The blitter market -is quiet. Some holders are forcing sales, but buyers are holding back, expecting prices to go lower. Reports that the factories are increasing the moisture ■limit affects the market very seriouslv for the New Zealand article. Quotations: Danish 1265, New Zealand 1225, Siberian 113 s, Australian ms. The cheese market is firm. Canadian makes -are quoted at- 61s. The hemp market is firmer, and there is a better demand. Current quotations are : Good, fair grade, on spot, £26; fair grade, on spot, £V--10s; fair current Manila, on spot, £24 10s; January to Marcli_ shipments, good fair grade, £25 ss; fair grade, £25; fair current Aland i, £24. 10s. Last week’s output from Manila amounted to 25,000 bales. The wool market is firmer, and prices continue to advance. Business prospects -are good. Bradford tops are quoted : 36’s (low crossbreds) IQid, 40’s (low crossbreds) llijd, 44’s (medium crossbreds) 11-Jd, 50’-s (halfbreds) Is 3-Jd, _s6’s (quarter-breds) Is 6Jd, 60’s (merinos) Is lKd. The hop market is firmer. There is prospect of improvement. The finest English hops are quoted at 85s.
