TURANGANUI CLUB
At the Turanganui Club’s green yesterday afternoon the first round in the competition for the Handicap Fours Avas completed, Avhen Ratcliff©’s and Williams’ rinks met. The result Avas:
Somervell, Birrell, Douglas, Williams (skip) 28 beat Creamer, C. F. LeAvis, Morse, Ratcliff© (skip) 18. In this game McConnell played as substitute for Birrell. Ratcliffe’s rink opened by scoring a 6, and on the-3rd head led by 11 to nil. The Bth head showed Ratcliff© Avith 16 to 8 but on the 14th head Williams Avas only' one point behind—l 9, 18. On the 18th head Ratcliff© Avas still one point ahead—22, 21, but from this out Ratcliffe Avas unable to score,. Williams’ rink putting- up 7 on the- remaining three beads. t The draAV for the second round 1 resulted as follows: Williams’ rink meets Hallam’sj and Colley’s meets Martin’s. This round is to be finished by Saturday, 28tli inst. Entries are now being taken. for Handicap'’Pairs, to close on Saturday week, 28th inst.
