TO THE ELECTORS GISBORNE ELECTORATE. T.ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— 1 desire to heartily thank those who supported me in the recent contest, as avoll as those who, while opposed to me, accorded me so fair a hearing.. The Opposition has “played the game” and on this occasion lost, hut I fool satisfied that the Party, as soon as its past services and aims are understood by the people, will become triumphant. Again thanking you, Yours sincerely, W. LISSANT CLAYTON. LOCAL OPTION POLL. TO THE ELECTORS OF GISBORNE ELECTORAL DISTRICT. RADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— AVe desire to express our heartfelt- thanks to all those Electors who voted for Continuance at yesterday’s Poll. It will he the earnest endeavor of our Association to merit a continuance of your support. AVe deeply and gratefully recognise that the result of the Poll was due to your honest conviction, and to the gratuitous, excellent, and earnest endeavors of our workers. AVe trust that during the next three years the conduct of licensed premises throughout the district will bo such -as to merit your approval; and, further, we assure you that any suggestion as to the improvement of existing conditions from any resident will at all times ho gratefully received and fully, considered. To those of the community who opposed us, we have only to say that we bear not a scintilla of ill-will, and trust that before the next Election we shall have many of them conscientiously fighting oil our side. 'The paucity of the Reduction vote in our Electorate has conclusively proven, to us that votes were intelligently cast, that the rabidness which unfortunately is the characteristic of other electorates is practically non-existent in ours. It is a matter for mutual congratulation that though the tight was a 'keen one, both sides have refrained from personalities, and we trust that if any of our opponents have in anywise been wounded, they will forgive us as freely as we do our No-license friends who have, only in their enthusiasm, disregarded the rules ol square fighting, and that now the fight is over we shall settle down to promoto the welfare and prosperity of our district. v V For the Licensed A’ictuajiers’ Association.
