Messrs F. S. Malcolm and Co., auctioneers, Gladstone Road, repoit tlie following prices realised, at their produce sales on Saturday : Buttei lOu, e o-cr s is to Is Id, peas Is lOd peck, potatoes 10s Gd sack, new potatoes 2MI lb, cockerels Bd, young clucks Is 2d, fowls 2s 3d to 3s, small fruits and vegetables at usual prices. A good sale of furniture was also held.
HORSE SALE. Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd., yarded -about 40 hacks and harness horses at W yllie s horse bazaai cm Saturday. Hacks sold ‘from £4 to Lo, harness horses from LG to LlO, and mares in foal from L 3 10s to LiAn exceptionally fine hack was ottered, but was passed in -after £2O had been bid. PROPERTY AUCTION. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co., Ltd., offered the goodwill of Mr. Rutene Jackson’s leasehold property, comprising 3039 -acres, No. 1 block, Uangatu, at auction on Saturday. There was a good attendance. Ihe bidding was started -at £BOO, and rose rapidly until £950 was offered by Mr. C. J. Parker. This being below tlie reserve. the laud was passed in. CUSTOMS RETURNS.
The following was the revenue received at the Custom House last week :—Customs duties £404 18s <xl, beer duty £33 ss, light dues £,<vs Bd, shipping fees £3_ 14s 9d, H-arboi Board revenue £59 11s 2-d. other receipts 14s; total, £569 10s lOd. MATA \Y HERO STOCK SALE.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report on Matawhero stock sale held on linns day, 19th inst: The attendance was scaicely as large as usual, many of the country people being no doubt busy shearing. Entries were also small, but that is usual at this time of the year. Sheep. —Stimulated no doubt by the brighter prospects in London, the demand for all classes of serviceable sheep was considerably better than for the last two or three sales, and prices also showed an improvement of about a shilling a head all round. \\ c yarded 1920 and .sold 1473. With the exception of a few old ewes which were shorn and realised 4s 9d, our entry comprised all woolly sheep, and the following were the day’s quotations: Well-grown lambs and ewes in good conditions 15s lid, dry ewes 8s 6d, hoggets small and light in the wool 9s Bcl to 11s, better grown hoggets in good condition 12s 2d to 12s 7d, fat ewes 12s Cd to 14s, «c* cording to weight and condition, store wethers 13s 3d to Lis 2d, fat wethers, light weights, 15s, better conditioned sheep 16s. Cattle. —Our entry comprised 149, of which we sold 93 under fair competition, and prices slightly better than those recently ruling. Yearling steers made 355, 18-month steers £2 11s to £2 12s (id, 2-year-old steers £4, beef steers £7, yearling heifers 325. herd cows £2 ss, dairy cows and heifers £4 5s to £5, beef cows £5. Pigs.—Competition was hardly as keen as existed at last sale. Weaners made 10s to 12s, slips 15s to 18s Cd, sow £2 7s.
WOOL
United Press Association. Copyright LONDON, Nov. 20. The Antwerp wool, sales have closed, the prices confirming the advances. "Out of 5196 bales of La Plata wool offered 4911 bales sold.
