THE EDUCATION BILL. HOMAN CATHOLIC OPPOSITION. United Press Association. Copyright LONDON, Nov. 24. Lord Talbot intimated, as representing Catholic opinion, his intention to give Mr. Runciman’s Bill the most determined and resolute opposition. Mr. Allen Clement Edwards, considering the Bill reactionary, intimated that he would move for its rejection. A powerful non-political committee of moderates, leading churchmen, Nonconformists, and education authorities are supporting the proposed education compromise.

Two hundred and fifty peers, who met at Lord Lansdowne’s house, overwhelmingly resolved to reject the Licensing Bill to-dav, because they considered it would not "materially advance the cause of temperance and violated every principle of equity in its dealings with the numerous classes whose interests are affected. THF. CO RON ATS ON OATH. BILL TO ALTER IT PASSED FIRST READING. (Received Nov. 25, 11 p.m.) * LONDON. Nov. 25. Mr. W. Redmond’s Bill to remove Roman Catholic disabilities end alter the coronation oath has been read a first time by 233 to 48, after Mr. McArthur’s opposition, based on the argument that the measure struck at the guarantee of a Protestant succession, and also that Roman Catholics never extended toleration to others.
