GERMANY NEEDS AUSTRALIA

SYDNEY, Nov. 25
The Hon. B. It. Wise, who recently returned from England, in the course of an interview, expressed his conviction that Germany needs Australia, and that that was the of that nation’s anxiety to increase her navy. He stated that, to his mind, there was an absolute real necessity for a much more elaborate scheme of defence than any yet put forward in the Commonwealth. Universal military training, though a step in the right direction, did not go far enough. No training was any use unless they had a very substantial increase iri population. Immigration must be the first step in the defence policy of the Commonwealth. People must be brought there and taught to bear arms,
