DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT
AX EARLY CANTERBURY SETTLER. [Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Nor. 25. Air. John Smith liitchic. an ok! uid respected resident of New Zealand, died yesterday at his homo in Queen Street. The deceased, who was 69 years of age, wa, s a native of Arbroath, Scotland, and came out to Canterbury nearly -10 years ago. On the death of his wife in Christchurch, two am I a-half vo ars ago, lie .removed to Wellington, where two of his sons C\les-;rs I). and J. Ritchie) are in business. For some time before hie death he had been in failing health, fn addition to Messrs 1). and J. Ritchie, the deceased lias .left a daughter and three sons, Mr. G. Ritchie (Wellington). Mr. J. W. Ritchie (N-Ipier), and Mr. J. Ritchie (Nolen). The hotly will bo interred at Christchurch.
