BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB.
The ground of the Gisborne Club presented an animated'scene on Saturday afternoon, when a considerable number of members assembled to play on a decidedly keen green. The following were the results of the games: Crawford, Jones, Wilson and Bright (skip) 19 beat T. Clarkson, W. Pettie, Collins,' and Ponsford (skip) 17. Davis, Pavitt, Witty, and Hookey (skip) 17 beat Wootton, Paltridge, Kyme, and Brown (ski])) 13. Takle and Elliott 21 beat Ellison and Morrill 18.
TURANGANUI CLUB. The Turanganui Club’s rinks were patronised by a large number of bowlers on Satuday afternoon, when anumber of enjoyable friendly games were played. The. rinks played keenly, being the fastest so far this season. HANDICAP PAIRS. Entries for Handicap Pairs, for trophies nresented by Mr. J. Colley and Mr. W. Clayton, closed on Saturday afternoon, and the- Match Committee decided to divide the competition into three sections, every pair playing every pail* in each section, the pairs having the largest number of wins in the sections to play off. The competition is to be completed by January Ist, 1909. The following are the various sections, with allotted handicaps of each pair : Section A .-MR. Sheet and Bennett (skip) Spts; Hay and Nasmith, junr., (skip) opts; Harries and Morse (skip) 12pts; Edwards and McConnell (skip) lOpts; Somervell and Sawyer (skip) 4pts; McSkimming and Neill (skip) 7pts. Section B.—Douglas and J. J. Martin (skip) scratch; Nicliolle and Hird (skip) lOpts ;Farrell and Hallam (skip) 6pts; Birr ell and Williams (skip), 7pts; Lewis and W. O. Skeet (skip) opts -Tlielwall and Jcune (ship) 13pts. Section C.—Lapidge and Stormont (skip) ' 6pts; Zachariah and Cussens (skip) 7pts; Hooper .and j-Olley (skip) lOpts; McPherson and Ratcliffe (skip) 9pts.; Bruce and Gaudin (skip) 3pts.
