CRICKET.

THURSDAY COMPETITION

The Thursday championship matches were continued on the Domnin yesterday lafternoon, in -fine weather. Four teams were engaged, but with 'the exception of Te Rau, neither one of them was at full strength, but some interesting cricket was witnessed, the results of the day’s play being wins for United (and Te Ran over Cosmopolitan and Union respectively. UNITED v. COSMOPOLITAN.

Both these teams were very weak, the former only having six men, land the latter eight. United won the toss, and W. Gibson and Lang went to the wickets. A splendid start was 'made, and the score* was taken to 113 before <a separation was effected. Both batsmen played good cricket for their runs, and the innings finally closed with 5 wickets down for 163. Cosmopolitan fared disastrously on going in to bat, and were all dismissed for 19 runs. Farrell secured the excellent average of 5 wickets for 9 runs. The following are the scores—
