HAILSTORM AND CYCLONE.

ASHBURTON, Dec. 12
The atmospheric conditions continue very unsettled, and shearing operations in the districts near the ranges iaxe being considerably delayed. A thunderstorm passed over the town at noon yesterday, torrential rain, falling, and continuing in intermittent but heavy showers ti£l night, with more rain threatening. Judging by reports, the storm was much more severe in some of the country districts. It- is stated that blocks of ice fully 1$ inches in diameter fell for several minutes in Winch mo re district, u, cyclone following and sweeping a track of country six miles m width. A .large implement shed, which was in the stack, was completely demolished, and chimneys, etc., ailso suffered. Details ate meagre, but such a storm would do considerable damage to standing crops. TIMARU, Dec. 12.. A heavy shower of hail and rain passed over Timaru at 1.45 p.m. yesterday, lasing a quarter of an 'hour. Many of the hailstones were fully half-an-inch in diameter.
