MONTHLY MEETING
[Special to “Times.”] NAPIER. The meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board was held' to-day, when the following matters in connection with schools in the Gisborne district were dealt with:—The inspector was instructed to report on partition and alterations for the Matawliero school. Te Arai: Plans were ordered to be prepared for new residence, estimate of cost of repairs to school and fencing to be obtained. AVaipiro Bay: £5 was granted for fence. Nuhaka : £lO was granted for rent of church, used for school. Papatawa: Copper was ordered to be built in and £2 granted for cupboard. Puha: Additional grant of £4O from the Education Department was received. Frasertown: Committee is to be tasked for an estimate of the cost of fencing; an additional grant for shelter shed was refused, and thei architect was instructed to prepara plans for a teacher's residence. The Education Department notified that the- establishment of the Gisborne High School had been approved. Mr. Darton protested against the action of the Board in resolving to disestablish the school, at a meeting attended by a bare quorum only, without notice having been given to the committee or members of the north ward. He gave notice that at the next meeting he would move that the resolution be rescinded.
