A discussion on the condition of native affairs in India led to a free fight between tbe Lascar and Zanzibari sections of the creiv of thaP. and 07 liner Mongolia. Several men were wounded, two removed to the hospital, and five arrested. The arrests were resented. A large body of Lascars left the ship, and, climbing the dock gates, marched up the street toward the lock-up. A ship’s officer -and a police inspector intercepted and tried to persuade them to return. They declined, but consented to visit the police station and interview the arrestees. On arrival -at the station they were locked in the yard. They again declined overtures to return to the ship, and were arrested. The total number of -arrests was seventyone.
