EXPLOSION OF GELIGNITE.

A quantity ctf gelignite stored in a building at the rear of Browne’s store,' Uimiera, exploded with terrific force during the early hours of yesterday morning, tearing a large hole in the ground over which it lay. Fortunately no one was injured,- although Mr. Wm. Gale, who was steeping only a short distance away, had a narrow escape, and received a bad shock. It is supposed that some phosphorus for iiLubibit poisoning lying close to the gelignite ignited the latter.
