THE CHARLES EDWARD AT WANGANUI.

- WANGANUI, Dec. 17. When entering the channel last night, after crossing the bar, the steamer Charles dward went ashore at the end of the breakwater in course of construction, her bow being between two newly-driven piles. The heavy sea prevented assistance by tug until noon to-day, when a hawser was run out The sea is now <1 riming, and hopes are entertained of refloating the vessel after discharging the cargo of c.oaii. The vessel is leaking slightly.
