THE NIEW ALPINE MINE

GREYMOUTH, Dec. 18

■The New Alpine mine manager reports tlie following progress for the week: —The cross-cut was extended 28ft, making a total footage of crosscut 140 ft, and the total distance from tho shaft 152 ft. In tlie early part of tho week tho ground was very hard and had blasting, but tho last ten feet was good slate country. To-day tho faco was in another hard bar. but there are indications of good driving ground coming in again. A private telegram received yesterday ro tho New Alpine Goldmining Co., from Greymonth, states: “Struck reef cross-cut new I'evel this morning. Size and 1 value unknown, .yet very satisfactory. Kindly notify shareholders.”
