The Marama will leave Wellington just , before midnight on Thursday, 24th inst.„ in place of the usual time, on Friday. English outward mails to connect accordingly. Mails for Fiji', Fanning Island, Canada, United States of America, United Kingdom, and Continent of Europe (connecting with Vancouver steamer leaving Fiji) per Navua, close at Auckland on Wednesday, 23rd inst., at 10.45 a.m. (No special address required.) Mails for the Commonwealth of Australia, Ceylon, India, China, Japan, Straits Settlements, _ also Continent Of Europe and United Kingdom ,per Mokoia, close at Auckland on Monday, 21st inst., at 4.15 p.m. Mails for the Commonwealth of Australia, iCeyilon, India, China, Japan, Straits (Settlements, also South Africa, Continent of Europe, and United Kingdom, per Moeraki, via Hobart, close at Bluff on Monday, 21st inst., at 3.30 p.m. Mails for Chatham Islands, per Ripple, close at Lyttelton on Thuisda.y, 31st inst., at 8 p.m. Steamer sails evening Ist.

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS.

POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT. 25tli and 26th December, 1908, and Ist January, 1909. Postal Branch. —Fridays, the 2oth December and Ist January (Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) will be observed as close holidays. _ On Saturday, the 26tli inst (Boxing Day), the Post Office will be open in all branches excepting the Money Order and Savings Bank, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Receivers and posting boxes will be cleared on the evenings of Thursdays, the 24th and 31st insts. Mails' usually despatched on Fridays will be closed on Thursday nights, the 24th and 31st insts, at 7.30 p.m. On Boxing Day, the 26th. inst., the usual despatch of mails up to 8 a.m. will be made, receivers and posting boxes cleared accordingly. On the 26th inst. a complete delivery by letter carrier will be made. On Thursday, the 24th and 31st insts, a delivery of town letters (including registered) will be made between 7 and 8 p.m. at the Post Office wicket. Telegraph Office—On Friday(Chnstmas Day) Sunday hours will be observed, viz., 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and sto 5.30 p.m. On Saturday (Boxing Day) and Friday (New Year’s Day) the office will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m .to 10 p.m. Telephone Exchange.—Special hours will be observed on Christmas Day, viz., 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. only.
